To kick off the Personal Development Diaries series, I had the honour of interviewing Amber, creator of MISFITSTUDIO. If you know Amber or have taken one of her classes, you'll know what I mean - she is mystical, magical, calming, grounding, strong, and inspirational - all at once. Amber is an entrepreneur, a creator, a visionary, a mother.. she is a force. I got curious with Amber and asked all about her personal development journey.  

What might people already know about who you are (the extrinsic you)?

Ooooo, that I’m that chick that created MISFITSTUDIO and developed the MISFITMETHOD - a revolutionary way of moving the physical body to untangle the emotional tensions inside, a way to help us feel higher positive vibrations through this crazy life.

What is something that people might not know about you (the intrinsic you)?

That I love candlelit baths, eating REALLY slowly and spending one day a week in silence.

What does personal development mean to you?

Constantly seeking the lessons and learning from ALL the twists and turns life offers up.

What has your personal development journey looked like?

Ohhhh lord

Where to start.......

I believe in therapy of ALL kinds.

Talk therapy.

Energy therapy.

Physical movement therapy.

Holding onto the past is heavy.

Freedom comes from releasing the weight of what has already happened.

Choose to see the lesson, and continue moving forward.

What are some of the most impactful tools you've found?

Breathing is so powerful.

Long and deep and slow.


Practicing the art of being present.

Transformational moments?


From everyday interactions with inspiring humans on the path of healing, to when one of my studios was destroyed by a flood, or when the studio rent tripled and we had to relocate.

Always lessons, always learning.

Experiences that have helped you along the way?

Cultivating a support system that is family, a circle of like minded, big hearted, beautifully generous beings who are always WITH me, no matter what!!!

Favourite rituals?

Morning clearing, using a cinnamon stick currently.

Followed by gratitude prayer, and meditation.

My evening cleansing is a candlelit bath, oil massage and breathwork before bed.
